In your life, at least fall in love or have your heart-broken once in this city.

I used to live there for couple months during my first internship program from college, it was in 2012. I went there with my three other friends, two girls and one guy. We rented two rooms in Katamso Street, close to the South. If you’ve ever noticed Bakmi Pak Rebo, well my place is just a stone away from the noodle’s place.

We used to spend our Saturday night with jamming, didn’t care much about our false-tone. Some day, we made money with that. Not much, about 100k during a night, for four of us. Still a good one, eh? We were not lack of money, our parents still sent some, but we just happy doing that.

Things started to change when my two girls returned to Jakarta and left me with the guy. Well I was so close to him since day one in the college, but never ever imagined that I could be living together with him (even just for couple months). And yes, people said, you would never know people until you live together, sleep together, or travel together.

So yeah, let’s just sealed this here: I. know. Him.

We spent a lot of time together; jamming, movies, night-out, just the two of us. Never knew that we finally found love. We loved each other like crazy, I mean, yeah, it’s two best friend who finally fell in love. It’s funny that I laughed a lot while writing this story.

Though we finally broke up at the end of the college year -no, it wasn’t happening in the same place-, but at least we both have memories together. I don’t know how he takes it, but I always see him as my friend, a good one.

Ever since that, I haven’t gone back there, until 2020 -which was last year- I did a solo-traveling just before the lockdown in Jakarta. The place was still the same, the people, the courtesy. And every time you visit this place, trust me, the memories you create will always be different.

So, which one have you experienced? The fall in love or the heart-broken one?

Cheers! x
